So I was listening to "Friend Of The Devil" from "Dead Set" on my way to work today, and I am still amazed that Garcia decided to slow the tempo down after hearing a Kenny Loggins' cover of the tune. That's just so odd.
I also thought I'd share the lost lyrics to "Friend Of The Devil", which everyone may know, but I just love seeing anyway...
"You can borrow from the Devil
You can borrow from a friend
But the Devil give you twenty
When your friend got only ten"
- Robert Hunter

My Ipod, on shuffle, just did it's own Scarlet-> Fire !!
It went from Scarlet Begonias off of Closing Of Winterland to Fire On the Mountain from Dead Set.

You Know What I Love ?
That moment about 10 seconds into "Friend Of The Devil"(studio version) when Phil's bass kicks in.

Welcome
I'm not quite sure exactly what form this blog will take. There will undoubtedly be lyric snippits and birthday acknowledgements, perhaps I'll finally fully realize my On Tour detective character, Lieutenant Kind. He follows the band, and on each tour stop, he is called upon to solve a mystery of some sort. Usually, one that the "traditional authorties" cannot be a party to, for one reason or another.Kind of like a one man stoner A-Team.
You know, I must confess something, I started that sentence about the Tour detective as a joke, but by the time I finished it, I kinda thought that it's a character I might actually try and write. Hmmm...I guess it's true what Jerry(and Hunter) said- "Once in awhile you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right."
If anyone ever happens to come here, enjoy.
